Transferring Favourites From IE to an iPad

Transferring Favorites From IE to an iPad

Transferring your favourites list from Microsoft Internet Explorer on your computer to your Apple iPad adds the Internet Explorer bookmarks to the iPad’s Web browser. You can transfer your favorites from Internet Explorer by synchronizing your iPad with Apple iTunes on your computer.

Step 1

Plug the dock connector end of the USB cable into the iPad. Insert the other end of the cable into a free USB port on the computer.

Step 2

Wait for Apple iTunes to launch automatically. Alternatively, open iTunes manually by clicking the program’s icon on your computer desktop screen or from the “Programs” section of the Start menu.

Step 3

Click and select your iPad in the “Devices” section on the left side of the iTunes program window.

Step 4

Click the “Info” tab in the menu at the top of the main pane in the iTunes program window. Scroll to the “Other” section at the bottom of the page.

Step 5

Click and select the check box beside “Sync Bookmarks With.” Select “Internet Explorer” from the drop-down menu.

Step 6

Click the “Synch” button at the bottom of the page. Apple iTunes now transfers and synchronizes Internet Explorer favorite bookmarks to the iPad. Disconnect the devices by clicking “Eject” when iTunes displays the “OK to Disconnect” status message at the top of the screen.

Tips

If you want to transfer Internet Explorer bookmarks and overwrite the bookmarks already on your iPad instead of adding to them, click and select “Bookmarks” under “Replace Information on this iPad” in the “Advanced” section before starting the synchronization.
If you have a Wi-Fi Internet connection, you can synchronize your iPad and computer wirelessly. To enable this feature, connect the iPad to the computer with the USB cable. On the device “Summary” page click the “Sync Over Wi-Fi Connection” button. Apple iTunes will now sync Internet Explorer favorites and other selected content with your iPad over your home or office Wi-Fi connection.

Warning

Don’t synchronize your iPad and computer if you’ve signed up for an Apple iCloud account. The iCloud service automatically syncs bookmarks and other selected content between your iPad, computers, smartphones and other mobile devices.
